Transcription
Transcription work of all types is undertaken, including medical letters and reports. Specific experience includes: psychiatry, epileptology, neurology and neurophysiology, cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology, general practice, orthopaedics, and occupational health. Please feel free to email me for discussion of turnaround times, costs and any specific requirements. Urgent work (i.e., less than 24-hour turnaround) is undertaken all year round - please email and a response will be sent within one hour between the hours of 7am and 10pm (Greenwich Mean Time).
Proofreading and copy-editing
Proofreading and copy-editing services are available for work prepared on paper or PDF, using handwritten mark-up and the BSI symbols, in Microsoft Word using the Track Changes feature, or in LaTeX. Levels of proofreading and editing, such as the depth of editing required or the style to use (e.g., spelling variations, personal preferences) – known as a 'brief' – is arranged between the editor and the client before the start of a project. If you do not have any specific guidelines in mind, then the free sample edit is a good chance to decide upon what should and should not be changed. This also helps with providing an accurate quotation for the work.
I am happy to take on almost any type of proofreading or copy-editing work, although very specialist projects, such as music, complex mathematics, or poetry, are best discussed in advance; referral on to a more suitable proofreader or editor, if required, will be offered.
For professional and academic clients, I have experience in using APA, AMA, and Chicago style, as well as various in-house styles. I also use PerfectIt software, tailored to your specific style, to ensure maximal adherence.
Formatting and referencing
The complimentary services of adding references, using EndNote or Mendeley, or formatting to a specific style are also offered. These can be particularly useful if, for example, you have co-authored a paper with international colleagues who use different referencing software and so have added in references manually, or for those who have had to import text from a PDF scan and have therefore lost the text formatting. Please email for if you require any non-editorial tasks undertaken so that we can discuss your specific requirements.
